How to Choose LPG Conversion Tank Size

Now that you have decided to convert your car to LPG, there are some decisions you have to make. Decisions like choosing the right tank. Here are some questions to consider in doing that.

How big a tank can I fit into my car?

Typically, an LPG tank ranges from 25 litres to 140 litres. The size of the tank will depend on your available car boot space. You can contact one of our LPG conversion experts to help you figure this out.

What type of LPG tank is right for me?

There are generally two types of LPG tanks, a capsule-shaped tank and a toroidal (round) shaped tank. Capsule-shaped tanks are usually slimmer in length (they look like CNG tanks). The toroidal shape tank looks like a car wheel. The tank that is right for you will depend on your priorities. Is range most important to you or space? The answers will help help you decide.

I want to keep as much car boot space as possible. What are my options?

You can install a toroidal shape tank. Choosing this tank installed in the spare tire space will allow you full utilization of your car's boot space.

Where do I put the spare wheel if I install a toroidal shape tank?

Typically, spare wheels tend to be thinner than regular wheels. If you put a spare wheel on top of the boot space, it won't waste too much space.

Also, you can drive with a tire sealant kit. This kit fixes small holes and refill the deflated tire. This way, there is no need to put a spare wheel in the car.

Is the LPG tank heavy?

Compared with CNG tanks, LPG tanks are one-third of the weight. So if you're coming from a CNG car, you will likely feel an increase in performance.

Final question, how much mileage can I get with a 60-litre tank?

The capacity of the LPG tank is 80%. Meaning, for a 60-litre tank will hold around 48 litres of LPG. You will get almost the same mileage as you get with 48 litres of regular petrol.
